Rare version of a Gruen "Pan American" in two tone yellow and white gold filled case with Guildite back. Large stylized lugs are white with center portion of case yellow. Original dial on this "Pan American" is very nice  with a little patina  produced in the 40's. Case is marked Gruen   and case back material is "Guildite" (Gruen's steel alloy)   which was introduced in 1941 and used for war production. Originally these watches were made for Pan American World Airways who were famous for their "Clipper" flying boat. After 1945 they were sold commercially and were offered in a wide variety of styles and sizes all with the   24 hour dial. This is a great example and it is in very high condition overall .Movement is a caliber 420/SS with 17 jewels running perfect !  Case measures 32.4 mm x 36.8mm overall and comes with brand new strap ...ready to go.
